February was crazy. It was warm, it was cold and it was warm again. Daddy was busy and travelling, Mommy was sick, but you took it all in stride.
When the month began, it was warm enough to help out in the yard, so you helped me clear out some of the wet pine cones.

That weekend, we also went to the National Zoo to see Bao Bao, the baby panda! But after a long wait and a few Go Go Squeezies (still high on your list of snacks), all we saw was a tiny patch of furry back as she slept in her rocky pen.

Soon after that we got an immense amount of snow! You were pretty restless, so we took you out to play in it. You didn’t last long, but while you were outside you had a great time. We made snowballs for mommy and you smushed them against the basement door for her to see.

We also took a big piece of cardboard to our “hill” so you could ride down it. It was your first real time sledding. Mostly, it was Daddy just pulling you around on a box, but at the bottom of the hill next to our house you breathlessly whispered, “AGAIN” after our first run.

Valentine’s Day came and went rather quietly, but you didn’t let us forget. You sent Valentine cards to all your aunts, uncles and grandparents and mommy and daddy too! You even helped daddy make breakfast for mommy that morning; a special “heart” toast (which you pointed out) with some fruit cut into heart shapes. It was FUN.

We also did a family project, painting some canvases with the letters for “FAMILY”. You did the A and the L. We’ll be hanging them up in our house later this month. You’ve also really taken to finger painting. Daddy is looking forward to all the great things you’ll paint for him.

We enjoy walking around our townhouse complex when it’s warm. You actually pointed out a gum wrapper that looked like the Batman crest, to daddy’s amazement.

And when it’s warm, your favorite thing is to request going out to eat. One of your favorites? Jason’s Deli, where the ice cream is free and you slurp with gusto.

Once the weather got better, it did so dramatically. It was nearly 60 degrees the following weekend, so we went to Annapolis and visited our friend Croom. We had lunch, walked around to look at the quaint streets and we also watched boats in the bay.

So with all that, this past weekend we decided to go to Washington DC again. You were excited and we went with no real plans in mind. We ended up at the Nation’s Capitol and decided to take one of the public tours. It was really amazing and the tour guides loved you. You were pretty well behaved, but you were confined to your stroller because there was lots of walking, you were tired and it was easier for you to look up and see all the art when you were leaning back.

We finished the day with a little snack at the White Apron (a sandwich spot) and headed home, and you took a tiny nap along the way, dreaming of being a Senator someday maybe?
OTHER interesting things that happened this month:
- Our friend Eric Knaub brought you a LOT of Thomas the Train stuff. Now we’re struggling to find a place to put it all, but you play with it constantly.
- You’re potty visits have been pretty good. You did AMAZING in Washington and had no accidents the whole time we were there.
- You also have your Toddler Rail on your bed. NO MORE CRIB! And you’ve done a great job of reading quietly in your bed, sleeping and getting up in the middle of the night to crawl into bed with mommy and daddy and kick daddy in the face.
