“Ready for my close up”

We spent a lot of today cleaning house. You and I spent time together while mommy did laundry. You helped me shop. When we got home, you were immensely vocal however it was hard to catch you in that right moment on video.

Right before your bath, we played around on the bed. You were putting your feet into your mouth, but again, I was too late on the camera. When I DID finally get a camera into your face, you decided to bring it in close and then gave us a little thoughtful moment.

Swimming Lessons and Apple Juice

Today you had a couple of firsts. It was your first official swimming lesson (You’ve been in a pool a few times and like it, but with all this water around, we want you to have some “formal” training). Unfortunately the YMCA wouldn’t let me take pictures, but I was able to sneak in a video or two before they shut us down. However, you’re now officially a “SEA TURTLE” according to the Y.

We celebrated your swimming success by breakfast at the Bryant Lake Bowl. You quietly ate little Cheerio like things. You were doing so well, Mommy decided to try something new: Apple juice! You weren’t entirely sure what do to with the cold, sweet stuff, but once you got a solid taste of it, you gulped it down.

More bath time fun

I couldn’t help myself but take this picture of you tonight. You were immensely funny as you played in the tub with your bath toys (one of which is missing and we believe may have been absconded by the cat).  And the washcloth hat you were wearing was too much. You continue to have immense fun in the tub, and as it gets cooler and darker, those bath times come earlier and earlier. Hopefully, I can leave work in time to see them.

Funny as always in the tub.

Future Gardener?

Today mommy and I are fighting chest colds, and you had a bit of a cough yourself, but we decided to let the sunshine and fresh air do its job. We went to the park where you had a bit of a laugh at mommy, rolled around on the big blanket and discovered grass (which you loved to pull), and found out that those leaves in the trees are a lot of fun.

Don’t worry though. We didn’t let you eat any clover OR get attacked by bees. (Both events were imminent)

Your mommy made a joke that you were dressed like your Uncle Tim. Polo shirts and Ralph Lauren shoes didn’t hurt.

(OK Grandma Mimi… now you’ve got something to watch)  😉

9 Month Check up

You got your flu shot today, so you’ll be under the weather this weekend. And you just keep on growing!

  • Height:  90% (getting taller and taller)
  • Weight: 10% (you’re still a skinny little guy)
  • Head Circumference:  97% (whoo hooo!)

So apparently you’re more likely to play basketball and be in the chess club than to be stealing car stereos and being an MMA fighter. But one never knows.

ZOO!

Today was daddy’s birthday, and he could think of no better way to spend it than with you and mommy at the Minnesota Zoo. In fact, part of his present was a zoo membership for all of us. Unlike many of these entries, today’s pictures include some things that we saw with you that caught your attention, so they’re included so you can remember them in the future.

We’ll be going to the zoo often as you grow up here.

State Fair Day

Today was pretty exhausting but exciting and you were quite a trooper. We went to the Minnesota State Fair; a first for all of us. You endured ten hours of milling around with huge crowds, endless rows of fried food booths pumping out greasy residue, and OUTDOOR changing station (yes, really), being scared to tears by a goat (blame mommy), multiple varieties of loud music, direct sunlight in the face and generally what was far more time in your stroller than we felt comfortable. BUT, you really came out on top. You got to see rabbits, you delighted at seeing multiple crafts, attempted to heist some homemade pies and were the darling of a dozen ladies who coo’d at your excellent eyelashes.

Your meals today were mostly solid food, since water for the bottles was difficult to come by. But in the end you got a hand-carved frog pull-toy, a really cool peace sign tie-dyed onsie and a Minnesota Moose Family Christmas ornament for this Christmas. All in all, it was a really fun day for everyone and tonight… you slept like, well… a baby.
