Our little art critic

Today we went to Art-a-Whirl, an opening of several galleries in Northeast Minneapolis. You were very well behaved and more importantly VERY engaged with the art. Here are some of your critical faces (as well as a chill moment outside the galleries).

At one point we asked you if you liked a piece of eclectic artwork and you exclaimed quite loudly (and seriously enough to make us laugh), “Uhmmm”.

Later, we took you to the Old Spaghetti Factory and mommy got treated to her favorite pasta. It’s also the day we bought baby food (peas) to see how you like it tomorrow.

Chatterbox on deck

You’ve started to do a little talking. When it’s quiet, you tend to coo and hum. Sometimes, it even sounds like you’re singing, which isn’t a big surprise, since your mother and I sing to you often.

(By the way, that little nick on your cheek was self inflicted with your deadly claws. But your lack of noticing attests to your future as a scrappy boy)

Visitors (posted late)

I felt sort of bad, taking so long to post this, since your Grandmother Sande and Grampa Ed came up to visit weeks ago.  But daddy’s been on the road to a new job and just got a chance to do this.

Otherwise known as “Mimi” and “Doc” to your older brothers, these are my mother and father and they were SO happy to see you. In fact, Doc was a little shy to hold you at first, but when he did, you slept soundly in his arms.

Baby Slugger

Well, we’re not sure where you learned your fancy fighting moves, but after daddy made you laugh & he went to make some dinner, he heard mommy roaring with laughter. Apparently, you were threatening her with so,me very serious boxing poses. You bunched your fists, held them to your face, scowled and growled a little; it was hard not to laugh.

Documented here are your signature moves and your final knockout tactic, “The Killing Smile.”

Showing off your mad boxing skillz
Who needs fists? I got CHARM.

Museum Day

We took you to see the Museum of Science and Industry today. And while we figured you wouldn’t get as much out of it as mommy, you DID like a couple of things; the Toymaker 3000 (ok, well, you slept through it but it had that effect) and the large swirling vortex in the Science of Storms area.

Other than that, you got pretty cranky after about three hours of crowds, shiny lights and loud sounds. Instead of showing that face, how about the one you made JUST after you ate today?

Alert and awake, the MST held your attention for longer than we thought it would.

Tired from a Day of Activism

Wrapped up nice and warm...

Your mom and I went to a rally today to support workers in Wisconsin who were about to have their ability to negotiate salaries stripped away. You were well wrapped up in your snow suit, so you slept through all the talking and cheering. I’m sure you were mostly bored, so we treated your excellent behavior and “can do” attitude with a little Macy’s trip. (OK, maybe it was more for mommy). We had lunch there and you got to have your bottle there too! Afterwards, you were quite content and were the charm of the first floor (many young ladies from Wisconsin who also attended the rally cooed over your bright eyes).

A little post-bottle mommy snuggle time

Generations

It was an amazing visitor you got this weekend. Your daddy has two other sons and the oldest one (Brandon) came to visit you while he was in town. He’s technically, your oldest older brother. And while I don’t know if he knew exactly how to hold you, he seemed fine doing it.

Campbell, meet Brandon...

Pretty amazing to have two completely different generations of sons in the same room. 🙂
